Or, a verynatural appearance may be given by securing the teeth atthe depots before they are baked, and carve and stain themaccording to the requirements of the case in hand. Fig 19. Jointing Gum or Block Teeth.—By the judicious grind-ing of the joints in gum teeth, whether single or arrangedin sectional blocks, the proper shape and contour may begiven to the denture. But these teeth are not susceptibleto as natural and artistic arrangement as the plain latter, however, can only be employed where the teethare to rest directly upon the natural gums as shown in SELECTION AND ARRANGEMENT OF TKETII. 43 Fig. 19, or where the hps are of suificient length to entirelyconceal the gums. When gum teeth are used every care should he taken toso grind the joints that their surfaces will come in perfectcontact, and not, as is so commonly practiced, make\^-shaped spaces. As each block is thus ground, it shouldbe secured to the trial plate, and so on
