GEORGE MAJOR TABOR Daguerrotype taken by himself in 1852 6th Street, Los Angeles, November 14th, 1920, the funeral being held on the anniversary of his eighty-eight birthday. After finishing his education at Middlebury, Vermont, he taught school in both Upper and Lower Canada; later he became expert in the new system of Daguerreotype photography, which he fol- lowed for a number of years. A reproduction of a photograph which he took of himself by this process in February 1852 is shown herewith; also a half-tone taken in his later 5^ears. ~ In 1856 he was appointed to the Chief Clerkship of General Fletcher, who was Agent to the Winnebago Indians in Northern 39.
