Umaid Bhawan Palace (hotel and home to the Maharajah of Jodhpur), looms out of the desert outside Jodhpur's blue painted city. It took 3,000 workers 15 years to complete, and was designed by the British Royal Institute of Architect's president from red Chittar Sandstone.
