Composite photograph showing a portrait of Sir Richard Owen (1804-1892), English zoologist, who coined the word Dinosaur in a report of 1841 (top) on British fossil reptiles. The term, meaning \fearful lizard\" was used to describe the group of large extinct reptiles whose fossil remains had been found by many collectors. The Megalosaurus and Iguanodon fossil teeth (top) were found in the 1820s. Scelidosaurus (foot and limb bone) were described in 1861."
