A Mameluke sabre, England, circa 1800 A broad, slightly curved, single edged blade with fullers on both sides, blued and gilded. Etched on the obverse side with a "GR" cipher beneath a crown. The reverse side bears a coat of arms and trophy bundle. There is a maker's mark, "J. J. Runkel Solingen", on the back of the blade. Quillons with brass crosspiece. Riveted black horn grip scales, possible later replacements. Metal scabbard with patina, two moveable suspension rings on lion's heads, with traces between them where a coat of arms(?) has been removed. Length ,
