With the water-power factor properlydisposed of, we may look also for the ultimate utilization of thebillions of feet of hard woods which are now of little value, butwhich may well prove a veritable mine of wealth when it becomespossible to manufacture them into furniture and other articles. To those who may say that the oppor-l^unity for future development in agriculture and industry inMaine is doubtful, let us state that we have seen only the begin-ning, and that it is much more likely that a brief space of timewill show a far more rapid growth than during any previousperiod of her history. It is a rising and not a setting starthat we confidently behold.
