Researchers using UNIVAC computer, 1950s. US computer scientist Grace Murray Hopper (1906-1992) is standing at right. Hopper was part of the team that developed the first UNIVAC computer in 1951. Standing next to her is Frank Lagan. The group at left are (left to right): K. C. Krishna, Laura Yu, Donald Sullivan, George Schmalen Berger, and Frederick Tweed. UNIVAC (Universal Automatic Computer) was a series of computers built from 1951 onwards, with UNIVAC models demonstrating key advances in computing made in the 1950s and 1960s.
