Thepaper is thin, and of a yellowish tinge, nn-watermarked of course, and the post-mark islieht-red and Tho establishment of a postal system insuch an out-of-the-way place as Cashmere, isa surprising evidence of the quickness withwhich the knowledge of useful inventionsspreads in the present day, and of the pro-gressive spirit of the ruler of a half-civilizedcountry. With such an example, may we nothope that the Persian authorities will be im-pelled to introduce the same system into theircountry, and with it the handsome stampswhich collectors have so long is at present no direct communicationbetween this country and Cashmere, so thatletters must go a long way round, and thesame remark applies also to Persia. Neitherof these countries is named in our PostalGuide. We shall await with interest thearrival of fuller particulars concerning thedate of emission, values, and employment ofthe Cashmere stamps which have comeunder our notice, and trust our patience willnot be too largely drawn upon.
