Postosuchus archosaur. Computer artwork of a 12-foot-long ( metres) Postosuchus sp. rauisuchian archosaur on a hilltop 220 millions years ago, during the Late Triassic period, in what is now Texas, USA. Surrounding the Postosuchus are various cycads, ferns, and tree-like Glossopteridales plants. Postosuchus had a crocodile-like body and tyrannosaur-like head. It was likely a fierce apex predator that preyed upon Dicynodonts and other animals smaller than itself, including some of the first dinosaurs.
