MARCH, 1917 MARYLAND MEDICAL JOURNAL Stanolind Trade Mark Reg. U. S. Pat. Off. LiquidParaffin (Medium Heavy) Tasteless — Odorless1Colorless. IHHIWflHItlUftllllHIinMI BeforeOperation Stanolind Liquid Paraffin is an ideallaxative for surgical practice. When used in the proper dose, itthoroughly empties the alimentarycanal, without producing irritationor other undesirable effects. It is particularly valuable in intes-tinal surgery, because it leaves thestomach and bowels in a quiet state, and because its use is not followedby an increased tendency to con-stipation. After an abdominal operation, oneor two ounces of Stanolind LiquidParaffin may be given through atube while the patient is still underthe anaesthetic, or as an emulsion,an hour or two later. Stanolind Liquid Paraffin is essen-tially bland in its action, causing aminimum amount of irritation whilein stomach or intestine. It mayalso in most cases be gradually re-duced without apparently affectingthe frequency of the evacuations. A trial quantity with informative bockhtwill be sent on request.
