Residents clear debris after homes were razed in a Roma quarter of Sofia. At least 20 homes, deemed illegal were destroyed by the local municipality, leaving many of the city's poorest families homeless. Across Bulgaria there has been an increase in evictions and demolitions of illegal housing, oftentimes disproportionately effecting poor and minorities, who are not provided with compensation nor alternative housing.
