Rubble remains around the B3263 bridge over the River Valency at Boscastle village a year after the flood of 16 August 2004

Showing rubble by the repaired bridge, which was damaged when several cars were swept over it. The flood was caused by the remnants of Hurricane Alex coming in off the Atlantic ocean. Five inches of rain fell on Bodmin Moor and the water was then funnelled down the steep sided valley of the River Valency and through Boscastle.
