Bruce Carr, Auditor of State: I herewith present to you my report of the examiuation of theState Banks, together with a tabular statement showing theircondition. The showing, as will be seen .from the accompany-ing statements, is most satisfactory. This is my third report,and each year that I have examined these institutions theyhave shown an improvement, and the success of the systemhas been more marked. In October, 1887, there were thirty-two banks organized under the State law and they had a cap-ital of $1,742,500.
