Taha Yassin Ramadan and Saddam Hussein inspecting the Basra front, Iraq, February 1987. The Iraqi President and commander-in-chief accompanied by Taha Yassin Ramadan, the leader of the paramilitary Popular Army, during the Iran-Iraq War. Ramadan went on to become Vice-President of Iraq in 1991 but was tried and executed after the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime.
