Reverend Charles Pritchard (1808-1893), British astronomer. Pritchard was educated at Cambridge University and ordained in 1833. He worked as a headmaster in London until 1862 when he retired to pursue his astronomical interests. He served as President of the Royal Astronomical Society from 1866 to 1868, and was Savilian Professor of Astronomy, University of Oxford, from 1870 to 1893. He was awarded the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society (1886) and the Royal Medal of the Royal Society (1892). He received his awards for his work on stellar photometry and stellar parallax.
