The Chalice artwork next to the demolished Cathedral in Cathedral Square Christchurch New Zealand

The Chalice (2001), Cathedral Square, Christchurch New Zealand, by sculptor Neil Dawson. Erected to commemorate the millennium year. The Cathedral, already damaged in the 2010 earthquake and the Boxing Day aftershock, was badly damaged and lost it's tower in the February 2011 earthquake. The west wall (in the image) with it's rose window fell down in the June 2011 quake and totally collapsed in the December 2011 quakes.
