Radiation effects on mice. The low-dose gamma ray facility of the Biology Division, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Tennessee. ORNL is investigating the effect of gamma rays in inducing genetic mutation in mice (Mus muscula) over more than 50 generations. The mice are housed in the perspex cages seen here. This research is intended to provide data for the investigation of radiation effects in mammals, and the effects on humans of exposure to radiation hazards.
