He entered the ecclesiastical state and became pastor of the Church of Saint Peter in Zurich, which did not prevent him from producing, either in prose or in verse, numerous works of morality and piety., He was interned in Basle for having made strong representations to the Directory, but was soon recalled to his country., He died in 1801 as a result of a wound received at the capture of Zurich. He was the creator of the science to which his name has remained attached
