Abingdon claims to be the oldest inhabited town in England; and the Thames runs through the heart of it. That makes it a very wildlife-friendly old town. Even so, it's unusual to see a heron so close to the town centre, just by Abingdon's famous medieval bridge. The ever busy Bridge Street runs overhead, but this solitary bird doesn't seem to mind! But here's a big question. Is it a common Grey Heron, or the much, much rarer Great Blue. The big money has to be on the Grey, but it really looks blue to You decide!
