Bearded scorpionfish, Scorpaenopsis barbata, on a coral reef block in the Red sea, Southern Egypt.

These beautiful, but toxic fish are masters of camouflage. Scorpionfish hide motionless on corals or rocks in the reef, waiting for smaller crustaceans or fish to pass by and then be swallowed by the fish. All members of the Family are poisonous. Most inhabit shallow waters, but some members can be found as deep as 2, 200 m.
