This is one ofthe few great pictures which we know with cer-tainty to be have been entirely executed by Rubensown hand, a fact stated explicitly in an Italianletter to Sir Dudley Carleton, by whom it waspresented to Charles I., and is inserted in theprinted catalogue of his collection at p. 87. 11.
