History of the Alleghany Evangelical Lutheran synod of Pennsylvania, together with a topical handbook of the Evangelical Lutheran church, its ancestry, origin and development . er 2, 1913, at which time heresigned to accept a call to Norfolk, Va. During his incum-bency the church increased steadily in membership and becamefirmly established. From the time of Dr. McCauleys resignationuntil February 18, 1914, the church was without a regular pastor, but on that date a call was extended to the present pastor. H. Krumbine on February28, 1914, although he was unable to assume full charge untilafter his graduation in June. Rev. Krumbine is a most energetic pastor and is much belovedby the entire congregation. Under his leadership the member-ship is united and working enthusiastically for the good of thechurch. At the beginning of Rev. Krumbines pastorate thechurch still had a debt of about $20,000, which is being reducedby a nice sum each year. During last year ( [916), $1,500 waspaid, and a like amount will also be paid this year. The church. MR. J. P. Pa. site, however, is valued at $75,000, and is growing in value yearby year, so the matter of the debt is not impressive and is nocause for concern from the church officers. Grace Church has 322 members, most of whom are activelyengaged in some phase of church work.
