Or he is told to follow with one limb the move-ments which the examiner makes with the other. Muscular, articular, and tendonous anaesthesia usually exist to-gether; there is then ordinary ataxia. Such ataxia shows itselfin standing and in locomotion and other voluntary we have a static ataxia and locomotor or motor ataxia. .Staticataxia, or inability to stand (or sit) without swaying or irregularmovements, is tested by making the patient stand with the eyesclosed and the heels and toes close together. Normally, the headmoves not over an inch in this position, and the patient holds thehead and body more rigid with the eyes closed than with themopened.
