The companyhas designed a specialtype of bracket whichis easily bolted overthe back-stay of thedrill frame so as totiring the motor direct-ly above the outsidebelt - driving makes a very con-venient and easily ap-plied support for the motor; one of its most convenient features lies in the factthat it can be applied to the Cincinnati drill at any time,. THE NEW CINCINNATI DRILL, WITHGEARED TAPPING ATTACHMENT March 25, 1905.] STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. 567 whether the drill is a new or old one. The gear-tappingattachment which this company has designed for applica-tion to its upright drill has many features of advan-tage. It is, in fact, the only attachment of its kind whichmay be placed directly upon the standard design drill so as toform a part of it, and which has a ratio of return to advancingspeed of 2:1. By its use the operator is enabled to start, stopor reverse the machine at will through the lever shown at thefront of the spindle. It will be seen at a glance that this ar-rangement will greatly facilitate the operation of tapping ofholes. By merely pulling the handle outward, the tapping driveis started at the slowest speed, while pulling the handle to itsneutral position, the drive is instantly stopped; by pushing thehandle inward, the return or backing-out drive at the doublespeed is thrown in.
