He was for several yearsan active trustee in the Windham County SavingsBank, and is now President of theTirst NationalBank of Killingly, and a director in the Daniel-sonville Cotton Company. During the war Sen- 10 74 ator Hammond was very active in his efforts tosustain and strengthen the loyal party, and atthe most critical periods was several times in-trusted with the transaction of important busi- ness with the departments at Washington in theinterests of the State. He is a man of largepublic experience, and has made a strong and in-fluential member of the Senate. 75. Hon. EUGENE S. BOSS. DISTRICT NO. 17. Hon. Eugene S. Boss of Windham, Republi-can Senator from the Seventeenth District, wasa member of the House in 1877, serving asChairman on the part of the House on the Com-mittee on Frauds in Elections, and on the Committee on Insurance. He has also been a Presi-dential Elector from Connecticut, a member ofthe Board of Burgesses, and Acting Warden ofthe Borough of Willimantic, and one of the trustees of the Willimantic Savings Bank. Forthe past twenty-four years he has been engagedin business with the Willimantic Linen Company,and is an active and influential citizen. He wasborn at Willimantic, January 13, 1842, and re-ceived a common-scbool education. Senator-Boss is a prominent Republican, and is one ofthe leaders of his party in Windham co
