There is little to distinguish the account ofthis form from that of Durga. 5. As Singha-vahini, she carries a sword and spear, and with twohands is encouraging her worshippers ; as Jagaddhatri,she carries a conch-shell, discus, bow and arrow. Kali (the black woman), or, as she is more com-monly called, Kali Ma, the black mother, with the aidof Chandi, slew Raktavija, the principal leader ofthe giants army. Seeing his men fall, he attackedthe goddess in person ; when from every drop of bloodthat fell from his body a thousand giants equal in powerto himself arose. At this crisis another form of thegoddess, named Chandi, came to the rescue. As Kalidrank the giants blood and prevented the form-ation of new giants, Chandi slew the monsterherself. Kali is represented as a black woman with four arms ;in one hand
