CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – On a surprise trip from Iraq, 19-year-old Spc. Anthony W. Avant, Jr. visited his mother, Master Sgt. Veronica L. Avant, here the weekend before Father’s Day – both are residents of El Monte, Ca. but call Chicago home. He serves in Mosul with the 137th Quarter Master Co. and she servies with the 311th Sustainment Command Expeditionary in Kuwait.
