All of these laws aredesigned to take advantage of the Su-preme Courts recent decision uphold-ing the constitutionality of the fed-eral law which prohibits the shipmentof intoxicating liquors into states thathave laws forbidding such statewide prohibition bill, whichhad passed the lower branch of theIndiana Legislature, passed the StateSenate on February 2, by a vote of38 to 11. The bill now goes back to thelower house for the consideration of. amendments adopted in the Senate. Aprohibition bill providing for the ap-pointment of a commissioner to see thatthere are no violations of the law haspassed the Utah Legislature almostunanimously. Governor Kendrick, ofWyoming, has signed a bill submittinga constitutional amendment for stateprohibition to the voters in 1918. Therigid prohibition bill for the territoryof Alaska, which had already passedthe United States Senate, has beenequally successful in the House ofRepresentatives.
