Venus Slipper Orchid or Paph, Paphiopedilum Maudiae 'Amco', Orchidaceae. Asia. Paphiopedilum Maudiae 'Amco' is a combination of grex name and cultivar name; the name of the grex is capitalized, and followed by a clonal (cultivar) name such as 'Amco' in this case. Paphiopedilum Maudiae is a hybrid between Paphiopedilum callosum and Paphiopedilum lawrenceanum. 'Amco' is a selected clone (cultivar). Paphiopedilum callosum is a species of orchid found from Vietnam to northwestern Peninsular Malaysia. It has been investigated and shown promising results in the treatment of cancer. Paphiopedilum lawrenceanum is from Borneo - Sarawak, Sabah.
