A German wheellock with self-cocking action, circa 1730/40 The lock plate with a finely engraved landscape with horsemen in front of an encampment. Raised chiselled frame. Short wheel axis, cock with engraved monster head, pan with movable cover. On the reverse side elaborate mechanism with gear train and clamping chain that allows for winding up the wheel by means of the movement of the cock. Length 20 cm.
