After reaching Iceland, and remaining a fewdays among the fishing vessels, he proceeded westward tothe coast of Greenland ; and in exploring those icy seas hereceived some damage in a gale of wind. He returned toVapnafiord, in Iceland, to repair damages; and sent a re-port of his proceedings, up to that time, to the minister ofmarine, which was the last communication ever receivedfrom this unfortunate officer.
