1920 Blacksmiths Sturdy
1920 Blacksmiths Sturdy. It is believed around 50 of these tractors were made by a blacksmith named Sturdy in the Durham area in the early 1920`s They were basically made from a stationery engine fitted onto a frame, which contained a clutch, forward and reverse chain driven transmission and mounted on wheels. All models differed slightly due to fact that they were made up from engines and wheels that became available, often supplied by the customer they were being made for. This one has a 3 hp Amanco engine, the wheels are by Marshalls of Gainsbourgh which look very much like threshing drum or portable steam engine wheels.
