Conrad Poppenhusen was a man of marked ability and of distin-guished humanitarian impulse. A worthy disciple of Peter Cooper,whom he sought to emulate, this hard-working, broad-minded, progres-sive German by an endowment for a substantial sum founded a technicalschool for training in the commercial arts and trades — PoppenhusenInstitute. The Institute occupies a commodious building and has devel-oped and trained many thousands of young men and women in usefulpursuits. Its yearly roster of student
