Greece, Milos island. Klima seaside village, famous for its colorful doors and stairs.
Klima, is one of the typical seaside, traditional fishing villages of Milos, known as "Syrmata", probably the most colourful and famous among them. In fact "syrmata" is the name of the small houses of this kind of settlements. But why "syrmata"? They are called like this because they have a special mechanism to "syroun" (=draw) the boats inside during winter. Sometimes they have two floors (each floor never bigger than 20-25 square meters, and some other times only one floor "built" inside a cave. During summer the inhabitants of the inland, put their boats in the sea and use "syrmata" as summer "villas". Only the absolutely necessary (a bed, a table, two chairs and a small kitchen) fit in there. I like to call them the "apotheosis of minimalism". What I really like about "Syrmata" is that they could be very touristic places (especially colorful Klima), but they still keep their "character" intact. Times flows soft and sweet, gently and slowly there.
