Construction work on the Brighton Open Air Theatre, (BOAT or ), Dyke Road Park, Brighton, England, 2015

Construction work on the Brighton Open Air Theatre, also known as BOAT or Built in Dyke Road Park, Brighton, East Sussex, England, it opened in May 2015. It was paid for by private donations and is the legacy of the Brighton theatre and construction manager, Adrian Bunting, who died in 2013. The theatre was designed by architect, Graeme Hawkins, of the Miller Bourne Partnership. BOAT echoes a classical Greek open-air theatre, with semi-circular banks of seating looking down on a performance area. Its lawned terraces (of wooden railway sleepers and artificial grass or astroturf) seat over 400 audience members. A concrete sound wall behind the stage provides an acoustic buffer.
