Gaziantep, Turkey. 15 August 2022. Syrian refugees sift through the garbage collected from garbage containers in a waste-sorting site in the southern Turkish city of Gaziantep. After being collected the trash is separated in sacks of cardboard, plastic, iron, aluminium, and organic matter, to be sold to recycling centres. The work of waste pickers and workers at the sorting facility reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfills, yet the municipality is concerned about environmental and public health problems posed by the activity
