Pelican Nebula. Optical image of part of the Pelican Nebula (IC 5067-5070), which lies in the constellation Cygnus. This is an emission nebula (HII region), a cloud of gas which glows as the hydrogen it contains is ionised by ultraviolet radiation from hot young stars within it. This image was produced using the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, Mauna Kea, Hawaii, USA.
