YACHTS AND YACHTING 79 In 1886 after a disagreement a large number of members established a clubhouse in New York City on 22nd Street, between Broadway and Fifth Avenue,and formed the Corinthian Yacht Club of New York, which became active inracing for about ten years. In 1890 the club moved back to Oyster Bay, though it still maintained itstown house for some time after, and the members of the Oyster Bay Club re-joined the organization. In 1895 Mr. Henry C. Rouse was elected Commodoreand under his leadership the Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club became veryactive in yacht racing. This year the club offered its first International Chal-lenge Cup and a series of races was held off Oyster Bay between the x\mericanhalf-rater Ethelwynn and the English half-rater Spruce IV in which theAmerican boat was victorious. iNext year the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club of Dorval, near Montreal,Canada, sent th^ half-rater Glencairn to Oyster Bay to try for the
