MAKES THE CHAIN RUN SWEETLY. A little device—it is but 1J inches long byhalf an inch in diameter—which has gainedfavor, and which is designed to make thechain run sweetly, as they say in England,is the Automatic bicycle chain lubricator, pro-duced by the A. B. C. Lubricator Co., Herald Building, Baltimore, Md. As theillustration shows, it is intended to be at-tached to the front sprocket in the manner. indicated; the wick, fitting snugly betweenthe teeth, is kept constantly lubricated withthe emulsion contained in the tube and whichis in turn applied to the rivets and joints ofthe chain and the blocks of the chain wherethey come in contact with the teeth of therear sprocket. The flow of the lubricant iscontrolled by twisting the small end of thewick and will last for 500 miles. TWENTY-NINE CARS TO MOVE. Hereafter the address of Slaymaker, Barry& Co., whose locks are known throughout thetrade, will be Connellsville, Pa., instead ofLancaster, as heretofore. Formal possessionof the Connellsville factory was taken onDecember 7. The new plant is of steel andbrick, absolutely fireproof, and has a floorspace of 100,000 feet. When running fulltime it will employ some 800 hands. Someidea of the magnitude of its equipment maybe gained from the fact that it requiredtwenty-nine cars to remove the machineryfrom the Lancaster location.
