Miscanthus sinensis with water droplets on leaves (Grass).


Miscanthus sinensis is a species of the family Poaceae (Grasses). It is sometimes called "elephant grass" or giant grasses. It is native to Asia: China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia and Philippines. This is one of the parents of the hybrid Miscanthus X giganteus, the "giant miscanthus". This was created with the goal of producing lignocellulosic biomass crops on an industrial vocation to produce biofuels or fuel renewable.
