Pterosaur, Hatzegopteryx, artwork. Hatzegopteryx was a huge pterosaur that belonged to the Azhdarchid family of pterosaurs and lived during the Late Cretaceous, 65 million years ago. It had a wingspan of around 11 metres and stood over five metres tall on the ground. It is shown here on the ground using its wings as a pair of front legs. It is thought that pterosaurs used all four limbs when on the ground which enabled them to walk, run, hop and lift off into the air.
