Architectural, canopy-like structure raised on columns & topped by domed trellis covered with grapevine, enclosing statue of Bacchus & his leopard on pedestal, above statue are panpipes suspended from ribbon, to L of statue is man playing a pipe & to R woman crouching before basket, with tassled curtain backdrop (BRD) borders have inner & outer bands of classical ornament; (UPR & LWR BRD) centered by chinese warrior reclining in tent with table holding 2 cups, flanked by censers linked by strapwork & garlands; (L & R BRD) niche with seated Chinese man holding parasol at mid-point; above are 2 birds, a winged figure rising from sheath & holding lazy tongs above her head which support basket of flowers; below is head with cap supporting basket of fruit, peacock, & satyr with panpipes suspended from his drapery This series comprises six pieces: 3 wide, horizontal panels & 3 upright ones.
