Believed to have built been around 1692, the National Park Service restored it in the 1980s to its 1775 appearance. Captain William Smith was the commanding officer of the Lincoln Minute Men on April 19, 1775 (battles of Lexington and Concord, which marks the beginning of the American Revolutionary War).
