Chironius carinatus, the Machete Savane, is a large snake (reportedly up to 3 m in length) found in Costa Rica, Panama, French Guiana, Trinidad and tobago, Guadelalupe,Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Brazi (Pernambuco, Bahia, Sergipe, Ceara, and Alagoas, Pará) the Guianas. It feeds on frogs, mice and birds. Although non-venomous, this snake is well known for its aggressive behaviour.
