Such matters were now to be de-cided for them by then- representatives (or by the State);the voting of school support alone stiU reinained with thepeople. Massachusetts a type. Massachusetts represents a typeof the best of our colonial development, and brings theevolution of city school control up to the close of the firstquarter of the nineteenth century.
