An Indian ivory-veneered powder flask(barutdan),Jaipur,19th century. Wooden body shaped like a nautilus shell,ivory-plated and entirely covered with incised and lacquer-filled geometrical patterns. Turned spout and replaced plug made from ivory. On the bottom a four-line inscription in Hindi "From the arsenal of the prince of Samode,Rao Raja Werisal Singh Ji". On the sides brass suspension loops with an old carrying cord. Width 13 cm.
