The National Historic Ships Registered LYNHER moored at Cotehele Quay for her annual refit within the LHYNER restoration project

Only two Tamar barges survive & both have been restored. The LYNHER shown here is privately owned & is licenced to carry passengers. Built in 1891 or 1896 by James Goss of Calstock close to this mooring she was restored by Cremyll Keelboats. Named 'Lynher' as she was designed specifically to navigate the narrow characteristics of the River Lynher a tributary of the Tamar. Her shallow draft and beam design allows her to 'sit' on the river mud. She had a 60 tonne cargo capacity. She has been restored to the original specifications. Here she is near completion of an annual winter 'refit' and structural work & in these 2 images with & without her bowsprit. Work is undertaken by skilled volunteers.
