Turned out at 10 1/2 for beer, called unsuccessfully for Cahill, found [Bob] Gun and Mc Pyke's. He wants me to edit as well as illustrate the Pic, including both for $15, which puts the former task at $5 weekly ? too little, by half. 24. Friday. By Pic block and dull day indoors till evening. Cahill came, with him to 16th St, where he left, saying, metaphorically, 'there was a woman who kept a big dog on the street which he was afraid of.' Found little [Thomas] Nast with [Jesse] Haney.
