These islands are small and connected by a * Below the mouth of the Ohio, we shall note the islands by their orig-inal numbers, although many are lacking to make up the have entirely disappeared; and others, the chutes have grown upwith trees on one side, so that it can scarcely be perceived that they everwere islands. New islands are continually forming; consequently, it will beimpossible to keep them regularly numbered.
