Pink anemonefish (Amphiprion perideraion) with anemone showing the effects of bleaching.

Pink anemonefish (Amphiprion perideraion) with anemone showing the effects of bleaching. The bleached anemone is almost white, where the unbleached anemone is brown due to the presence of symbiotic photosynthesizing unicellular algae, called zooxanthellae that live within the tissues. In this case they have been expelled because of the high water temperature. Rinca, Komodo National Park, Indonesia.
